Thracian Emperors Of Rome – I Maxilian the Thracian

Certainly the Romanian people was tired of hearing negative things about their ancestors, different experts in history will actually try to induce the feeling of inferiority.
If these experts say that our ancestors Thracians were uneducated barbarians (or their role in history was not an important one) is that often they are paid to say this, times were not documented enough.
We Romanians should feel alone when it comes to mystification of history, most of the native European nations affected by this syndrome, namely that of creating a sense of inferiority or guilt.
The tragicomic example is Spanish, which some experts in history will make them feel guilty for Reconquista (Renconquista was the process by which the Christian kingdoms of northern Iberian peninsula Hispaniei retook the Muslim Moors. Recapture lasted for almost 800 years. Spanish Umayyad conquest of the Visigoths took place in the early eighth century and is usually considered that the Reconquista began almost immediately, in 722, when the Battle of Covadonga, and ended in 1492, the conquest of Granada), feel guilty that they have freed the country from foreign domination.
But leaving aside the politically correct aspects of contemporary history to present to the first thracian emperor of Rome.
Gaius Julius verus Maximian (c. 173 - April 238), known as Roman Emperor Maximin the Thracian was rulling between 235-238.
He is recognized as the first emperor soldier, Thracian origin is indicated in the Historia Augusta. Maximilian began his political career as a private in the time of Septimius Severus. He was promoted only in the reign of Alexander Severus. Maximin was made commander over recruits from Pannonia, who despised the Emperor Alexander. Together with the legion Legio XXII Primigenia, Maximin assassinated in 235, Alexander Severus and his mother to Mogontiacum (now Mainz). Praetorian guard had recognized Maximilian as emperor and the Senate gave its confirmation. Maximin with Caecilia Paulina son, Maximus, was proclaimed Caesar.
Nobility not approved because of his trace, his problems făcădu long as he drove. He began to defend the king's overthrow previous supporters who tried to kill him twice. The first assassination attempt was the river Rhine. A group of officers, supported by a part of the Senate, tried to destroy a bridge over the river to let the Maximin stuck on the other side, at the mercy of Germanics. On the throne of Rome was to come Senator Magnus. But the conspiracy was discovered at run time and insurgents. Second tenativă held in Mesopotamia, where the former Alexander's archers proclaimed king Quartinus. Macedo, leader of military revolt, killed Quartinus, because it does not guarantee any advantage.
In 238, in the province of Africa, Governor Gordian I and his son, Gordian II were proclaimed kings. Senate of Rome have supported on two Gordieni. Maximin took legions of Pannonia and went to Rome.
The revolt in Africa was defeated by Governor Numidiei, Capellianus, loyal to Maximilian that the Gordian II defeated and killed at the Battle of Carthage, having only one legion in the area. Gordian I hanged himself when he has heard the news.
In place of the two Gordieni, the Senate chose kings Balbinus Pupienus and two Senators. But the people were dissatisfied with the kings, senators and the streets, asking him Gordian III, grandson of Gordian I minor on the throne. Pupienus and Balbinus had to associate the throne the Gordian.
Meanwhile, Maximin attacked northern Italy, to regain the throne. In April 238, was murdered at Aquileia Maximinus the Pretorian, paid by his political enemies.
Herodian History presents the first Roman emperor of Thracian origin, as a man of high solid dismayed by its colossal size.
